Alan Grove will lead Veros Christchurch as Senior Development Manager / South Island Regional Manager, bringing more than 30 years’ property experience and deep Christchurch and Canterbury development knowledge to the role.

Alan Grove has spent his career helping shape places before most people could see what they might become.

Former aerodromes. New communities. Town centres. Residential neighbourhoods. Growth areas still taking form.

Through that work, he has learned that good development depends on more than vision. It depends on timing, judgement, commercial discipline and the ability to keep people moving in the same direction.

That is the experience Alan brings to Veros Christchurch.

Senior local leadership for the South Island

Alan joins Veros as Senior Development Manager / South Island Regional Manager, leading our new Christchurch office and supporting Veros’ growing presence in the South Island.

Veros is already working across the South Island. Alan’s appointment gives that work senior local leadership from day one.

Christchurch has moved beyond rebuild. The work ahead is about long-term growth, new communities, infrastructure, commercial investment and projects that need to be viable as well as visionary.

Alan brings more than 30 years’ property experience across New Zealand and the UK, spanning development management, acquisition, due diligence, master planning, consenting, stakeholder engagement, financial analysis and delivery.

Crucially, Alan knows what it takes to turn land into places that work.

Across 17 years with Ngāi Tahu Property, Alan was involved in some of Christchurch’s major growth stories, including Wigram Skies, The Landing at Wigram Skies and Tower Junction. His work included the master planning, rezoning and project management of the 200-hectare former Wigram Aerodrome, now Wigram Skies, and the development of The Landing, a $40 million town centre designed to support residents and the wider South West Christchurch community.

Looking back, Alan says Wigram Skies stands out not only for its scale, but for the complexity behind the scenes.

“Wigram Skies was a remarkable project to have been involved with. Merging the need to provide new housing and infrastructure at a rapid pace post the Canterbury Earthquakes, competing in a tight labour market whilst ensuring that Ngāi Tahu’s connection with the land was honoured for future generations, all added to the complexity behind the scenes. Having one large block of land in single ownership allowed a true master planned approach to development with schools, town centre and open spaces now thriving some ten years on.”

More recently, Alan has spent six years with Hughes Developments, delivering new communities across Greater Christchurch and the Canterbury Plains. His recent work includes Faringdon, Arbor Green and Camden, with significant experience across residential land development, infrastructure coordination, consenting and delivery.

Alan knows how to read the play, manage the moving parts and keep a project grounded when pressure builds. He has led multi-disciplinary teams of consultants, contractors and stakeholders, bringing calm leadership, strong project discipline and clear commercial thinking to complex development environments.

The Christchurch office is being built as part of the wider Veros team. It will be connected to the same culture, systems and standards across Tauranga, Hamilton and Rotorua.
