Project overview

Hill Laboratories are New Zealand’s leading privately owned testing business dealing with the agricultural, environmental, and food industries. In Hamilton, Hill employ over 300 scientists, specialists and technicians at their national headquarters.

With Hill outgrowing their dated office and laboratory facilities. Veros worked with the Hills executive team to realise their business and growth objectives, through identifying a suitable site new location for their business headquarters. Veros undertook tenant representation to source new premises, lease negotiations, and design coordination which would see the building refurbished and fit-out for Hill’s specialist use.

The Development Agreement was negotiated on the basis that a design and build fixed cost would be provided by Foster construction for the building upgrades and lab fit-out works.

Design and build contractors Fosters worked closely with Hill, Veros, and the design team to scope and design Hill’s very specific requirements. The building at 7,000m² is the biggest multi-discipline lab in New Zealand and one of the biggest laboratories in Southern Hemisphere.

Veros was proud provide an end-to-end property solution for Hills Laboratories and their business and operational needs. This full service including Veros managing the site identification and acquisition, development negotiations, and project management for the of a new specialist laboratory facility for Hills Laboratories.

Our approach throughout the project was to always manage risk whilst ensuring the required standard quality of construction was delivered. Our team meet regularly with the Hills Laboratories team and provided clear reporting which enabled Hills to fully understand key decision points and milestones and could ask decisively for the good of the project. Becoming part of the Hill’s team, we took on their objectives and ensured they were achieved.
