Whakatane District Council have sought to utilise a prime surplus land holding to achieve a high quality urban development in a sensitive coastal area. As Development Managers for the project, Veros have undertaken due diligence, purchase, procurement, team appointments, contractor engagement, market demand analysis, branding, design coordination and consenting. Stage 1 earthworks commence in the last quarter of 2018.
For Whakatane District Council, the “100 Acre Block” provided the opportunity to realise a commercial outcome through land sale, with specific requirements in terms of the delivery of a master planned development, with enhanced landscaping and open space, and the ability to deliver New Zealand’s eastern most retirement village.
A comprehensive masterplanned approach has provided the ability to innovate with housing typologies to provide greater housing options and choices, and bring a quality and cohesive development to Whakatane that has not previously been seen.
