With their existing building seismically at risk and no longer fit for purpose for their business, Westpac entered the market seeking a new generation workplace for their staff and an accessible customer-oriented retail experience.

Working for the owner and developer of the land, Veros project managed the delivery of the new Westpac Centre on Tauranga’s Cameron Road. The Westpac Centre delivered a fit-for-purpose and future-proofed accommodation solution for the Tauranga regional head office and “super branch” headquarters of Westpac, and a number of complementary retail and hospitality tenancies.

The Rotorua Lakefront Redevelopment is envisaged as comprising a high-quality mix of commercial development and public amenity. Veros are facilitating the positive development of the Rotorua lakefront by delivering an iconic project which will meet community expectations, council needs, and iwi aspirations.

Project outcomes

The project provided a new measure of design quality for Tauranga, which reflects the brand aspirations of Westpac. The project was delivered on time to a happy tenant. Westpac’s regional business manager Steve Atkinson said the investment reflects recognition of the evolving shape of Tauranga’s business district.

“In terms of business, all of our bankers will be there under one roof. There’ll be a boardroom and offices for customers to use for business meetings, as well as a greater level of customer service,” he says.

The remainder of the centre was leased to vibrant businesses that complemented the aspirations of Westpac and the development to create a vibrant hub.

The high-specification commercial development is one of the most ambitious commercial buildings in Tauranga, and a high-performing team working towards excellence was critical in the successful project delivery.

Having successfully development managed the project from inception to completion, Verosnow manages the commercial assets including the relationship with all tenants in the centre, leasing, building asset management, and day-to-day site management.
