Veros were engaged for the Tauranga City Council Office Relocation by TCC. We were appointed to project manage their organisational relocation to new office premises within the city centre.
With their current building in the city scheduled for demolition, the council had a race against time to move to new premises that supported the diverse needs of their organisation. Veros were appointed to provide a comprehensive project management role that included:
- establishing lease negotiations for the new space
- full design coordination of the base build upgrade works
- tenant fit-out works and furniture, fittings, and equipment
- supporting the logistics and cultural change needed for the relocation to be successful
The project involved moving 400+ staff with a great deal of time pressure. The Veros team used their Site Identification and Project Management expertise to put in place governance structures, risk reporting, complete project programming and planning around a range of project dependencies. Due to the large number of staff, the move was staged gradually over a period of three weeks.
Veros supported the negotiations with the building owner, ensuring the lease agreement signed provided a beneficial result to the council. The contract procurement required innovation and flexibility to deal with changes in design and the time pressure of the project.
The work was completed on time enabling the council to move from their location at 2 Devonport Road prior to demolition occurring.
The Tauranga City Council Office Relocation was completed in April 2018. Council’s lead representative for the project has a glowing reference for the services provided by our team.
The relocation is temporary, until planned new council offices are constructed in Willow Street.
