Project overview

The Kulim Park playground upgrade was eagerly awaited by the Tauranga City Council and local residents. Tasked with revitalising the park, Veros was appointed to streamline the project’s progress, overseeing the design management, contractor finalisation, and construction initiation. The project’s vision was fueled by extensive community consultation, ensuring the new playground would reflect local aspirations and feedback.

Post-Covid construction challenges necessitated strategic procurement to avoid delays, with Veros identifying long-lead items early and coordinating timely orders.

Starting in spring to leverage drier weather, Veros skillfully managed construction phases, ensuring significant park areas, especially the new playground, were accessible by the Christmas break.

As project managers, Veros was pivotal in reactivating the Kulim Park playground upgrade, translating community vision into reality. Our strategic approach to design coordination, contractor management, and construction oversight ensured the project’s success amidst logistical challenges, delivering a much-anticipated recreational space for the community.

The Rotorua Lakefront Redevelopment is envisaged as comprising a high-quality mix of commercial development and public amenity. Veros are facilitating the positive development of the Rotorua lakefront by delivering an iconic project which will meet community expectations, council needs, and iwi aspirations.

Project outcomes

The new playground now boasts more than double its original size, incorporating shading and a new basketball half court, enhancing the recreational offerings for the community.
Upgrades include sealed parking to minimize dust for park users and a wide shared pathway, improving accessibility for all visitors.
Local iwi contributions in the unique mahi toi (artwork) adorning the wetpour and basketball court surfaces, adding cultural significance and enjoyment.
The playground’s opening celebrated strong community turnout, reflecting the project’s positive reception and the effective incorporation of public feedback into the park’s design.
