Project overview

This seismic upgrade and store extension project exemplifies the intricate balance of enhancing infrastructure while maintaining daily operations. Over four years, this project evolved through significant design changes and funding approvals, culminating in a series of strategic upgrades including a 100m² area for a new ‘Click & Collect’ service, along with a revamp of the checkout, bakery, and deli areas.

Veros provided comprehensive project management services, covering design, consenting, procurement, construction, cost management, and project closeout. Additionally, Veros took on the Engineer to Contract role, ensuring a seamless transition between project phases. Managing a seismic upgrade in an operational supermarket posed unique challenges, requiring a highly engaged team adept at preemptive problem-solving and swift response to unforeseen issues. Collaboration with Foodstuffs North Island (FSNI), the operator, contractors, and consultants was crucial, enabling the project to progress without hindering the store’s trading activities.

Seismic upgrading an active retail environment demanded exceptional foresight and agility from the project team. Through close collaboration with key stakeholders, Veros ensured that all parties were informed and aligned on project developments. This collaborative approach facilitated timely solutions to emerging challenges, allowing construction activities to proceed without impacting store operations.
